Dragonfly Love

My husbands mother passed away a few weeks ago. I knew the day before we got the call... It was Saturday morning and we were waiting for a parking place in the lot at Waimea Bay. I couldn't help but notice this dragonfly buzzing back and forth over our car and hovering around each of our windows, it was unusual and got my attention. I said to my husband, look at the dragonfly... at that moment I felt my mother in laws energy so filled with love and light and joy. I just knew it was a message from her.
Since that day, we've been seeing a dragonfly everywhere we go, I don't recall ever seeing  one in Hawaii before. We've been seeing them buzz by the bedroom window, pass over us on the beach, hover over our car, and one stopped in the window of a construction job my husband was recently working on.  He opened the window to let it out and it stayed for a few minutes before leaving. We found out from my husbands sister that their mother was given the nickname Dragonfly by her co-worker years ago!!
This is what I found online about the Dragonfly :

Dragonfly symbolism crosses and combines with that of the butterfly and change. The dragonfly symbolizes going past self-created illusions that limit our growing and changing. Dragonflies are a symbol of the sense of self that comes with maturity.

They are fantastic flyers, darting like light, twisting, turning, changing direction, even going backwards as the need arises. They are inhabitants of two realms - starting with water, and moving to the air with maturity, but staying close to water. Some people who have the dragonfly as their totem have had emotional and passionate early years, but as they get older they achieve balance with mental clarity and control. They gain an expression of the emotional and mental together.

Dragonflies are old and adaptive insects, and are most powerful in the summer under the effects of warmth and sunlight. Their colors are a result of reflecting and refracting the power of light. As a result, they are associated with color magic, illusion in causing others only to see what you wish, and other mysticism.

The are often represented in Japanese paintings, representing new light and joy. To some Native Americans they are the souls of the dead. Fairy stories say that they used to be real dragons.

Dragonflies are reminders that we are light and can reflect the light in powerful ways if we choose to do so. "Let there be light" is the divine prompting to use the creative imagination as a force within your life. They help you to see through your illusions and allow your own light to shine in a new vision.

UPDATE: THIS IS REALLY COOL!!!!! Today is the one year anniversary of my husband's mother passing away. I didn't remember it was the day she died until my husband told me later in the evening. So I said in my mind to my mother in law...if you're there give me an undeniable sign, it was dark so I didn't think I would be seeing a dragonfly flying around. I forgot about it all and had a funny little poem about a gecko come to me, wrote it down then looked online for a picture of a gecko to go with my poem. I found the gecko pic I wanted and this page below popped up instead...here's my undeniable evidence! LOVE love love it!! http://www.dragonflyranch.com/
